Prior to his relocation to
the U.S., his various jobs
in the

entertainment industry in
Holland included buyer for a
Dutch
record retailer and
administrative employee for
his father’s
company "Les Editions
Internationales Basart
N.V.", a former
music publishing and record
company in The Netherlands.
(currently known as: Warner
Basart Music Publishers)
After working as a volunteer
in Israel for almost three
years,
he left for the U.S.
in 1976
to train in record
production
under George H. de
Mendelssohn-Bartholdy,
founder of
the world-famous
Vox/Turnabout classical
catalog, creating
over 100 albums, after which
he became the label’s
Northeast Regional Sales
Manager. In January of 1979
he was hired as
National Sales Manager for the Pickwick
Records' label division in
Minneapolis (well-known labels
included: Pickwick, RCA Camden, Quintessence
and Pro-Arte),
after which he was employed by various other record companies
as Vice President Sales and Marketing (Intersound,
Essex
Entertainment and Eclipse Music Group) In 1998 he pursued
his own
Import and Distribution company,
Basart World Entertainment, LLC.
and in 1999 the company
added
Musica Omnia,
to head up the imprints'
Worldwide
Sales and
Marketing efforts. In 2001,
three
other labels were
added for domestic
and/or
international distribution and representation:
Helicon/Kleos Records,
Legacy International
and
New York Philomusica Records
and on March 17, 2003, he was
also hired as U.S. National Sales Director
for BMG
distributed label Empiremusicwerks. His interest and background
spanning Classical
music and beyond, (all-time hero is Jimi Hendrix) gives
him the ability to see a recording from several perspectives: that of - the
label, the label representative, the distributor, the retailer, the consumer and perhaps most importantly, his own, a
lover of original, immortal music.
